5 Makeup Removers: Tried and Tested
By now, I think we all know the importance of removing your makeup prior to washing your face.
I think it’s called “double cleansing” ? LOL
I’m no skin care expert, but I thought I’d do a little review on a few popular cleansers.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m super lazy, especially after a long day of work or festivities, double cleansing can feel like such an extra step.
I just want to wash my face ONCE and go to bed haha!
Nonetheless, I’ve noticed that whenever I remove my makeup, and I mean ALL of my makeup prior to cleansing with a facial wash, my skin is noticeably different: less pimples, better texture, the list goes on.
Removing all of your makeup may sound obvious *shrugs* but In the past I was notorious for leaving some residue foundation on, thinking that my facial cleanser would take care of it.
Thankfully my best friend is a professional MUA - she set me straight. Ahaha!
Without further ado, let’s review:
Bioderma: 9/10
This was my favourite!
Pros: Great price point and doesn’t not leave skin feeling “oily”
Cons: None
Clinique: 8/10
Pros: Easily removes stubborn makeup and mascara.
Cons: Can’t really be used with a cotton pad - this may not be a problem for most, but I prefer to take off my makeup without getting my hands dirty
Deep Cleansing Oil: 7/10
Effective cleanser - a little goes a long way!
Pros: Leaves skin feeling soft, and less “greasy” than olive oil
Cons: High price point, similar results could be achieved with olive oil
Glossier: 6/10
I’m a huge sucker for cute packaging! You guys know how much I love pink hahah!
For that reason alone, It’s hard not to like this.
Pros: Good for travel, squeeze bottle lets you control usage, leaves skin feeling moisturized
Cons: High price point, a little only goes “a little” way
Olive Oil: 5/10
Pros: Cheap + gets the job done
Cons: Leaves skin feeling oily - but nothing a good facial wash can’t fix.
